Sydney Airport

24 October 2026

Wheres my plane?

Sydney domestic to international transfer

My plane is not here. That might make it hard to fly into a typhoon later.
OK I checked and it departed Japan 45 minutes late last night and should be here any minute now.

Now let's Christopher Nolan the timeline and go back in time for no good reason other than to add confusion.
Sydney airport was built by a bus company. I know this because you have to take a bus to go from the domestic terminals to the international terminal, which entirely confirms my suspicion of ownership. The bus is free, but someone is paying for it, me probably, taxes.
There is also a train. That costs money. Therefore I wandered out into the street to see if the bus was there, and amazingly, it was just pulling up as I walked past, so the decision was made for me, free bus trumped paid train. Therefore so far today, 2 buses and one train. Hopefully we improve on this number.

Sydney airport international departures is quite different from whenever I was last here, living in Melbourne I do not normally need to transfer through Sydney, but sadly, All Nippon Airlines hates Melbourne, so I got to experience a different grouping of Mcdonalds stores and duty free perfume than what I remembered. What a thrill.

I need to prove that I took the bus. Here is the proof. You can see the departure and arrival info on the screen which proves I did not just steal a random bus photo while really travelling in a Chauffeured Maybach.

A huge number of flights are departing soon so all the food courts were at capacity. This one is the most popular because they offer both kinds of food, Mcdonalds AND Kentucky Fried Bucket. What a time to be alive.

Sydney-Airport - A lot of people buy various glass bottles filled with liquids designed to mask their embarrassing body odours. Personally I do not think they work.

A second food court! I will not partake. Sadly the Virgin / ANA (All Nippon Airways) code share agreement does not extend to lounge access, and ANA do not have a lounge anyway. So I stood outside the Singapore airlines lounge (my usual airline of choice) and questioned my life decisions, will today be the day I have to PAY for water? OK that is enough airport photos.
