I have sold all my old cameras and after a couple of months of waiting for stock to arrive, purchased a new Ricoh GR III. It is small, fast, has an aps-c lens, image stabilisation, no lens cap, suited to one handed operation, fancy focus modes, bayer sensor, you name it. Lets see how it goes.
Nothing like starting off with high iso shots. This one is iso 5000, 1/10 second handheld. I need to work out the right combo of noise reduction and sharpness in lightroom.
More high iso handheld. Here is the Eureka tower with the even higher Australia 108 still under construction behind it. I live next door. +1 exposure boost on this shot.
Flinders street station, iso 800 f/4.5 handheld at night. Shake reduction / ibis is critical for me!
Bourke street mall. I was taking a lot of shots I have taken before with other cameras so I can compare.
Inside emporium. It actually seems whiter than this to the naked eye, I probably should have adjusted the white balance in post.
The local Hare Krishna group enjoying Mcdonalds. I was using snap focus here, a unique Ricoh feature? I think it is.
This is EB Games, who have a sale all year round. Also bright fluro lighting contrasting with a dark street.
Still at 1/8, not really required at this point as this was iso 320 only, but its good to know how well this little camera works at 1/8.
Good shadow recovery? I think thats what I have done here, actually the shadows are only +50, which is fairly normal in lightroom these days when you hit auto!
iso 3200, I would probably never go higher than that, it actually looks better than the previous photo despite also being pushed +1 EV. I hope I am getting all these nerdy photography terms right.
I missed the best of the sunset waiting for the helicopter. Also not a great location, still the reflection of the sun off the buildings looks ok.
I took this photo to test the pattern refraction moire whatever in the car park fencing. Looks fine to me.
I went here for dinner. They stuffed up my order and served my meal in a takeaway box, hence no food photo. It really was this color in here, a white balance adjustment could hide that fact.
This was one of my favourite handheld night photos with my Fujifilm x70, it took a few attempts to get a decent shot as that camera had no shake reduction. Here I barely stopped walking and just pressed the shutter with the camera set to f/4.5 aperture and everything else on auto.
