Seolleung and Jeongneung royal tombs
Still time to go and see some more mounds of grass containing K-drama stars.
The Seolleung tombs were nearby, and would take the right amount of time to visit before I had to board a couple of slow trains to the airport. It was however hot.
I have been to these tombs before, it is very popular for businessmen to go to at lunch and walk around with their secretaries, which seem to still be a thing in Korea. Probably while telling them what a great job they have done sending faxes and making coffee etc. after buying them a bubble tea. It looks weird in this day and age.
Fortunately, when I got back to my hotel to collect my bag, they had 'dressing rooms' behind reception. This allowed me to swap my sweaty clothes for non sweaty clothes onto my sweaty body. The dressing rooms provide a lot of equipment for girls to be sewn into dresses, they have a lot of wedding ceremonies in the hotel it seems.
Anyway, then it was time to head to the airport, and I will not be early like I normally am.
One of the tombs. You can not really see the statues surrounding the mounds that are the actual tombs.
This is just about the only tomb shot you can get, there was a tour group, I pushed through the French flags.
The history museum does not appear to be a museum, there were people in there working at desks, at least that's what it looked like to me.
If having a cybertruck was not stupid enough already, how about a pink one? At least the silly shape makes it easy to apply the cheap pink vinyl.
Seoul Incheon to Singapore on a Dreamliner
So this will probably be it for this trip, it ends with a scary shower experience in the Singapore airlines gold lounge.
Before all that, amazingly the Singapore airlines lounge at Seoul Incheon has finally reopened! It has been closed since covid. Even better, they only have the one, and it has all the accoutrements of their first class lounges, even though in Singapore itself I have to use the gold lounge. I realise that will confuse a lot of people but anyway, the food and related items in Seoul are better than Singapore, when flying on Singapore airlines.
The flight itself was 100% full, as all flights that do not got over Hormuz currently are. It was ok I guess, lots of screaming babies. Amazingly it left early and arrived 30 minutes early, only for me to find that my next flight to Melbourne is now delayed by 30 minutes. So I had 3 hours to kill in Singapore airport and decided that was enough time for a shower. I have regrets.
This is the busy lounge at Seoul. A lot of white guys doing business. One group in particular was amusing to me, because the boss guy called up his son to discuss how the son is now captain of the rowing team for no particular reason other than to make the other white guys listen.
I had a selection of very good food, a far far better selection than in the gold lounge at Singapore as I tried to describe above.
Seoul Incheon airport is nothing special, there really are not many shops and the food options are quite limited.
My plane, a Dreamliner this time. My final leg which is unlikely to be pictured is an old clunker 777.
I thought I had better take a photo of the actual Singapore airport, bonus points for getting a big 'Singapore' sign in the photo.
I then sat in my usual spot, waiting with a buzzer to tell me that a shower had been prepared for me.
Terrible. I got the disabled shower. It does not go high enough to stand under. The ENTIRE floor becomes wet, including the areas around the toilet, which then drain over your feet. There is nowhere to hang any clothes or put your bag up off the floor, although on the left of this photo it appears to be a fold out bag rack which was wet. I know most people do not get the option of a shower in an airport, and so it is a first world problem, but this was not good. I felt dirtier after my shower.
And so that is how this must end, I probably now have tinea, and unless something extraordinary happens, no more updates.
The end for now
