Ueno and Ginza
Just arrived at Tokyo Haneda airport. Apparently my flight has a 20 minute delay.
Before coming here, I did my traditional as necessitated by hotel location walk around the dead lilies at Ueno, then continued on down to Ginza, back via the Tokyo station, had 2 coffees and killed enough time before I went back to my hotel to collect my bag. Fascinating.
Weather is blue sky and hot, again, this trip has had the best weather of any trip I have ever taken, which therefore resulted in some of the best hikes I have done. In fact I would say that all 4 on Tokushima and one of the 2 from Okayama are in the top ten hikes I have done in Japan. They were not particularly long but the scenery was excellent, they probably would not have been as memorable if it was grey and cloudy.
As for getting to Haneda and getting through customs, very fast and easy on the monorail, and they have no dramas letting you out of the country, it is only when you arrive that they decide to set a horrible first impression by making you wait in line for hours.
This huge new building is still under construction, but nearing completion, there are cranes on the top.
And the last pre airport photo of Japan, also Ginza.
I will probably find time to add airport photos of Haneda and Singapore from Singapore in about 9 hours time.
Haneda to Singapore on an A350
Another mucus filled flight with everyone around me having caught all the various illnesses Japanese people seem to suffer from on a permanent basis that sees them generating non stop discharges from their nasal passages.
The flight was full, and suspiciously when I boarded, in one of the priority groups, the overhead lockers were already full. On 2 aisle planes this rarely happens. Hardly anyone had boarded. Are we all mules of some kind?
The flight left about 30 minutes late, and took exactly 7 hours. The next flight will take the same. I am sure they will serve a full meal soon after we take off, at about 2am local time.
So unless something extraordinary happens, no more text and photos about this trip. Korea again in late March.
Haneda airport terminal 3 is really very basic. This is all of the food options other than a 7-eleven. There is never anywhere near enough seating for the food options they have. There is a much better selection prior to going through customs which is really unusual.
Even the shopping options are very limited, I think Adelaide airport domestic terminal has more shops. Not that I am buying, but it keeps people out of my way if they are busy buying Louis Vuitton money laundering objects in airports.
Here is my plane. An Airbus A350. As I have said before they are quieter than a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, but with the snot action going on, that is not always a good thing, even with noise cancelling headphones.
The view over the railing of the Krisflyer lounge is decent, here you can see Louis Vuitton bags being purchased to take back to Russia.
And my final pic, number 1065 for this trip, sitting at the same spot I always sit in the lounge, re hydrating between flights. Strangely my gate is quite far away, so I have a reason to do a long walk, normally I do it for fun.
Probably the end of this trip

Safe travels home. Kind of amazing that 6 of 10 top hikes were from this trip.
I have greatly enjoyed waking up in NY and reading this site every morning the past few weeks!
